Carl Wayne Hulsey

Carl Wayne Hulsey of Lindsay was born on May 24, 1943 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Carl C. and Hazel (Romine) Hulsey and passed from this life on Friday, January 10, 2020 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years.

When Wayne was growing up, he lived with his grandparents, Banks and Minnie Romine. In the early 50's his mother married Johnny Ballard who became the father Wayne never had. He married Barbara Mantooth on October 27, 1962 in Gainesville, Texas and they lived in Kansas before moving to Lindsay in 1970. Nothing was more important to Wayne than his family. He liked to pull jokes on his family and do things to scare them, but he was a very loving and caring person who loved to help others. If you needed a mechanic, he was always there to help. After working for Western as a truck driver, he worked for Tri-County Tires until an injury forced him to retire. Then he became a “Jack of All Trades” and was always there for his family. He loved being a mechanic, gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed building a fire and helping cook weiners and toasted marshmallows which were the best. Wayne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Wayne’s survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara of the home.
Son, Richard Hulsey of Yukon and daughters: Debbie Bailes of Lindsay and Jennifer Rundell of Colorado.
Brother, Roland Ballard of Pauls Valley and sister, Sheila Henson and husband, Tony of Lindsay.
Grandchildren: Richard Gorden Hulsey, Jr., Jessica Hulsey, and Ashlee Hulsey; Jackie Cooper, Jr. and Justin Cooper; Matthew Blundell and Allison Blundell; and Helen, Hera, and Cora Hulsey; and great grandchildren, (Jackie and Chelsi Cooper’s children), Presli, Landri, and Sawyer Jack Cooper.
And extended family, Max and Kali Medellin, Kam Wallace, Knox and Kash Medellin; Terry and Linda Brooks and their grandchildren, Sidney Brooks and Autumn Trammell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Hulsey, Hazel Hulsey Ballard, and John Ballard; son, Carl Wayne Hulsey, Jr.; sisters, Geneva Kech, Reba Mantooth, Hazel Hollingworth, Lequita Nunn, and step-sister, Pat Lollis; and step-brothers, Elroy Ballard, Billy Ballard, and Raymond Ballard.

Memorial services will be held at10:00 am, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Lindsay with Chaplain Mike Mantooth officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John W.
