WIRT HENRY BRAND JR.
Wirt Henry Brand, 88, of Alex, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2024, following a brief illness. Wirt was born on July 24, 1935, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Wirt Henry “Bill” Brand Sr. and Juanita “Neta” Pauline (Burch) Brand.
Following a tour in the Navy, Wirt returned home to marry the love of his life, Barbara Ann (Lair) Brand on September 24, 1960, and they shared 52 wonderful years together. Together he & Barbara owned & operated a gas station up until he founded a successful B&C Stringup Co. in 1979, which he co-owned with son Brian, for over 31 years.
Wirt was an outdoorsman who enjoyed both fishing and hunting. He was an avid sports fan cheering on his favorite teams especially OU women's softball or when the team’s roster included one of his own children or grandchildren. You could often find Papa reading his bible or outside watching the birds.
He is survived by his children, Greg Brand and wife Rochelle of Alex, OK, Brian Brand and wife Leah of Blanchard, OK, and Shelly Brand, Alex, OK and daughter-in-law Brandee Brand Lindsay, OK. Grandchildren, Matthew Brand and wife Jennifer of Alex, Danielle Brand and husband Carl of Oklahoma City, Paige Luna of Alex, Kallee Dunn and husband Kaleb of Chickasha, Dakota Brand and Trisha of Rush Springs, Trey Perkins of Yukon, Delaney West and husband Warren of Geronimo. Great grandchildren, Henry Brand, Bennett Brand, Kendyll Dunn, Kapp Dunn, Blazen Brand and Dakotta, Raider, and Rip Brand. Siblings Pete Brand and wife Barbara of Grove and Ramona Wacek
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara, son Robbin Brand, grandson Tanner Brand, brothers Billy Brand & Bob Brand.
A funeral service in celebration of Wirt’s life will be held graveside at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Laflin Creek Cemetary under the direction of Winans Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
Wirt will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, integrity, and service will live on in those he touched.
