William Charles Smith

Beloved Husband, Father, and GrandfatherOn Thursday, June 7, 2018, William Charles Smith passed away suddenly at the age of 76 years. Charles will be forever remembered by his wife of 55 years, Minnie Smith (formerly Miller), daughter, Denesa Morse, son-in-law Vince Morse, and grandchildren Eric, Madison and Evan Morse, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Trevor and Meghan Morse of Norman, OK. Charles was born in Paoli, OK, and raised in Maysville, OK, where he met his future wife, Minnie Miller. After graduating from ECU, in Ada, OK, Charles and Minnie moved to Ardmore, OK, where they resided for 42 years. Charles received his Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was a teacher, coach, counselor, and principal for 30 years in the Ardmore and Dickson Public School systems. In addition, Charles served in the Department of Civil Defense. Following his retirement, Charles enjoyed spending his time on various projects including working part-time as a storm-tracker for Channel 9 in Oklahoma City. Charles and Minnie moved to Glenpool, OK in 2008, to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and T.E. Smith and brother Tommy Smith, of Maysville, OK. In addition to his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Charles leaves behind his sister, Barbara Ross and her husband, Gary, of Wayne, OK, brother-in-laws Fred and Paul Miller of Maysville, OK, sister-in-laws Julia Beam of Noble, OK, Erna Chrisco of Wichita, Kansas, Joyce Shea of Juno, Alaska, and their spouses as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14th at 10:00 am, at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, OK with Bro. Tim Carr officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
