William "Bill" Ewald Benthin

August 16, 1939 — February 19, 2019

William “Bill” Ewald Benthin of Maysville was born on August 16, 1939 in Watertown, South Dakota to Herbert and Emma (Schaap) Benthin. He passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in his home at the age of 79 years.

Bill joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 where he served his country in Vietnam and retired in 1978. He moved to Maysville in 1979 where he worked for Shebester Well Service from 1979 -1993 and as a security guard supervisor at Paoli Gaming Center from 2007 until his retirement in 2013. Bill married Christina in 1992. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

His survivors include his wife, Christina of the home.
Children: Glenn Benthin and wife Jacquie of Norman; Barbara Barnard and husband Dale of Amarillo, Texas; David Benthin and wife Heather of Maysville; Brenda Drerup and husband Jerome of Amarillo, Texas and Hans Dieter and Vanessa of Germany.
Brothers: Cap Benthin and Kaye of Texas; Joe Benthin of Watertown, South Dakota, and Marvin Benthin of South Dakota.
Sister, Janice of Iowa.
Many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Emma Benthin; sisters and brothers; and beloved daughter-in-law, Rita Benthin.

A special thanks to all the Hospice nurses and doctors that have taken such excellent care of Bill for the past 6 years.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Veteran's Corner, PO Box 722160, Norman, OK 73070.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 22, 2019 at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville, Oklahoma with Cap Benthin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
