Wayne Rawson

August 2, 1934 — May 23, 2023

Mr. Wayne Rawson, 88 of Oklahoma City, former resident of Newcastle, Oklahoma, died early Tuesday morning May 23, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 02,1934 in Wallville, Oklahoma to Hance Joner Rawson and Edna Earl (Owen) Rawson.  

Wayne attended school at Hughes Consolidated.  He was a proud veteran and a patriot of the U. S. Army where he served his country for three years.  He made his home in Newcastle for over 35 years, where he  built and ran his tire shop.  Wayne loved people and was a great conversationalist.  He also loved making deals where everyone left happy and felt like they got a great deal. He was an honest man who had a servant’s heart and you could always count on his word.  Dominoes and checkers were a big hobby of his.  Later in life, Wayne settled in Oklahoma City with his partner and friend Louise McLaughlin.  In his later years he spent his time going on walks with his beloved dog Salty, mowing yards, and caring for family, friends, and neighbors. 

Survivors include his partner Louise McLaughlin of Oklahoma City; Son, Kenneth Rawson and daughter-in-law Pamela Rawson of Blanchard; Daughter, Kimberly Street and son-in-law Randy Street of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; Brother, Hance Rawson and husband Tom Seamen of San Antonio, Texas; Brother, Dave-Lewis Rawson and wife Brenda of Lawton; Sister, Betty Keef of Newcastle.
Grandchildren: Sarah Gwaltney and husband Charley, Chris Rawson and wife Jalen, Walker Oldham, Holden Street, Colin Street, and Alec Street; 6 great grandchildren, and a multitude of family and friends.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents Hance and Edna Rawson and sister, Margaret Caldwell.  

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the: First Assembly of God Church, PO Box 873, Maysville, OK 73057 or any Veterans Organization.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 - 6:00 pm, Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville with Bro. Thomas Ayres officiating.  Burial will be held in the Antioch Cemetery with military honors under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
