Waymon "Roundy" Lorn Layton

Waymon Lorn “Roundy” Layton was born on January 28, 1939, in Paoli, Oklahoma to Jack and Mabel (Barton) Layton and parted this life on August 26, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.

Waymon known affectionately as Roundy was a lifelong resident of the Lindsay area. He married Dyanthia Pettigrew on August 12, 1961. This union was blessed with two sons, Brent Alan Layton and Brian Heath Layton. Later in life he met and was united in holy matrimony to Arletha Henderson, they were married 22 years at the time of her passing in 2016. Roundy was a loving father and grandfather. His grandchildren brought him so much joy. Roundy could always be found at his grandchildren’s activities, he truly enjoyed watching them. Roundy worked as a pipeliner, traveling many states during those years. He later retired from the Texaco gas plant after 24 years of service as a field operator. Roundy was a member of the Erin Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Roundy will be missed dearly by his family, special friend, Pat Martin, and countless other friends.

Survived by sons: Brian Layton and Kelly of Pocasset, Oklahoma, Tim Henderson of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Danny Henderson of Lindsay, Oklahoma, and David Henderson of Lindsay, Oklahoma; brother, Dwain Layton and Maxine of Claremore, Oklahoma; sister, Sheilla Munger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Brayden Layton and Brittnany, McKenzie Layton, Heather Scribner, James Henderson, Jeremy Bagley, Justin Bagley, Kelzie Scribner, and Declan Henderson; and great grandchild: Lane Layton; and special friend, Pat Martin.

Preceded by: parents, Jack and Mabel Layton; wife, Arletha Layton; son, Brent Layton; brother, Jackie Layton; and sister, Nona Gardner.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Erin Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Ridgway officiating.  Burial at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
