Walter Wayne Norton

Walter “Wayne” Norton was born on July 24, 1943, in Maysville, Oklahoma to Lonnie and Nora Mae (Harwell) Norton and left to be with the Lord on July 3, 2024.

Wayne married Judy Saylors and they were married for 61 years at the time of his passing. They had three children: Linda, Bruce, and Sandy. Wayne was a loving husband and father. He worked for Control Data Corp for 35 years and also served the community of Mustang as a volunteer fire fighter for 10 years. Wayne finally retired as a truck driver, he drove for Arrow Trucking and Ryder Trucking Company after 10 years. In addition he enjoyed driving a limo for a friends business. Wayne enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, banjo and mandolin. He played the drums in a band in his younger years. One of his joys was playing and singing at the Mustang Community Center. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. 

Survived by: wife, Judy Norton; son, Bruce ( Meredith) Norton of Mustang, Oklahoma; daughters: Linda (Steven) Norton - Rogusta of Michigan and Sandy (James) Hill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Alisha (David) Peek of Michigan, Cynthia (Andrew) Mendez of Michigan; Thomas (Kristen) Kenbeek of Ohio; Tracy (Hayden) Anthony of Mustang, Oklahoma, David Norton of Mustang, Oklahoma, Lindsay (Duke) Ward of Arkansas, Cara (Jeff) Carver of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Courtney Hill of Moore, Oklahoma; great grandchildren: Moriah Rao, Jordan Peek, Chloe Peek, Alyssa Koch, Joshua Koch, Jaden Mendez, Zyriah Mendez, Steven and Emma Kenbeek, Jordan Hill, Morgan Wittwer, Zachery Hill, Ashtyn Hill, Nicholas Hill, Lane Carver and Lance Wittwer; great-great grandchildren: Kori Anthony and baby boy Anthony, Asher Hill, and CJ Wittwer; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded by: mother, Nora Norton; father, Lonnie Norton; sisters, Veda Norton, Wanice Blevins Durham, and Christeen Burns; brothers, Eugene Norton and Richard Norton

Family and Friends Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2024, at Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. 

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Harris officiating. Burial at Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
