Viola Fleta Adams Hinckley was an amazing woman who was loved, is missed and will always be cherished by her family and a multitude of friends. She passed from this life on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at her home in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
Viola was born to J. B. and Mamie (Johns) Adams on July 25, 1929 at their home south of Maysville. She began her education in a small country school, moved to Elmore City Schools and then Hughes School until 1947, graduating from Lindsay High School in 1948. Viola was baptized in Rush Creek at the age of 14.
After graduation she was employed by GTE and Southwestern Bell where she created many friendships that she talked about often and of the good times they had - and yes a few wild stories. She then began A1 Answering Service, which she operated for over 40 years.
Viola met Russell Clyde Hinckley while employed at the State School in Pauls Valley and they were united in marriage on June 28, 1966.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; two brothers, Raymond Adams and Tut Adams both of Lindsay; and a sister, Jewell Underwood also of Lindsay.
Viola is survived by two sons, Mitch and Todd both of Lindsay, one grandson Ryan Blum of Nowata. Two sisters, Janice “Mick” Miller of Yukon and Pat Coatney of Lewisville, Texas.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 10, 2020 at Winans Funeral Home, Maysville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the First Baptist Church, Lindsay, Oklahoma with Mike Somers officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery, Antioch, OK under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
