Vernon Lee Hudson was born on May 5, 1937, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Leroy and Irene (Snider) Hudson and passed away on April 16, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.
Vernon’s family moved to the Lindsay area around 1966. Vernon was a proud Army veteran serving in the 25th infantry. He served his country from 1960 to 1962 as 1st class gunner, marksman in pistol, and expert flame thrower and rifle. He received the Good Conduct Medal. In 1978, Vernon married Betty Davison. Vernon worked in the oilfield industry all his life. He took pride in his work and was a friend to all that knew him.
Vernon was a proud member of the American Legion Post 23 in Lindsay and was passionate about all the events Post 23 represented in the community. He loved raising the flag at the Lindsay football games and displaying flags throughout the town for holidays and special events.
Vernon was a servant in many capacities. He was a volunteer fireman for over 20 years and is in the Oklahoma State Firefighters Museum.
Vernon enjoyed garage sales, auctions, carpentry and building things. He loved watching all sports on TV, especially NASCAR. He was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Vernon enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and everything they were involved in.
Vernon loved his family and they were very important to him. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Survived by: his wife, Betty Hudson; daughters: Lorri Jo McCoy and Sandy of Amarillo, Texas and Kristi Kennedy and Joe of Washington, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Josh Marcellus and Julie, Tommy Marcellus and Jamie, Nathan Marcellus and Amanda, Eric Marcellus and Amber, and Karri Kennedy; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Criner Baptist Church. Arrangements under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
