Tommy Earl Shelton passed away on January 6th, 2025, at the age of 75 peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with heart failure.
He was born in Oklahoma City, OK on February 21, 1949, son of the late Earl D. and Lois Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Sandra Lee Shelton, 5 sons: Dale and wife Carolyn, Donald and wife Kerri, Matt and wife Blair, Aaron, and Stephen; Grandchildren: Brandon Shelton, Kaetlyn Saylers, Logan Shelton, Adyson Simmons, Ally, Adri, Tobias and Jonah Shelton; great grandchild: Ju Ju Simmons; 6 siblings: Carol June Haines, Sandra Elaine Williams, Patrick Forest Shelton, Robert Dale Shelton, and Donna Kay Dyches; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tommy graduated from Lindsay High School in 1967 and married the love of his life Sandra on March 10, 1972. They lived in Lindsay until 1986 when he was laid off from Ingersoll-Rand. Prior to being laid off he felt that the Lord had called him into ministry, and he had been preparing to follow that calling for several years. He accepted his first ministry position in Deming, New Mexico and was there from August 1986 to August 1989. Next, he preached in Houston, Texas from January 1990 to the fall of 1992 and his final full time ministry position was in Pawnee, Oklahoma from August 1992 to the fall of 1995. In the fall of 1995, he and his family moved back to Lindsay where he lived the remainder of life. He worked at National Oilwell Varco in Duncan until he retired in 2017.
Tommy loved spending time with his wife and family and was one of the most loving, caring men on earth. Although his full-time ministry ended in 1995 his passion for sharing Gods word never ended. He shared Gods word everywhere he went and studied the bible daily with a fervent passion. He also loved writing biblical devotions he would share with friends and family. In these later years the highlight of his day was a daily game of scrabble against his wife Sandra.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lois Shelton and sisters Teka Woody and Shirley Albin.
