Scott Lynn Roberts

Scott Lynn Roberts was born on September 6, 1952, in Norman, Oklahoma to Ralph Patton and Oma Lee Roberts. His Aunt Avis and Uncle Red were influential in his upbringing and his life and stayed very close to his heart. Scott passed away on August 19, 2024, in Oklahoma City at the age of 71.

Scott’s heart and home were in Maysville. As a young man he excelled at many sports, particularly baseball. It is rumored that he never did any schoolwork because he was so handsome, all the girls lined up to do it for him! He was a hard worker and retired from Well-Tech after 20 plus years with the company and decades in the oil industry. He was also owner of many championship race horses as well as cattle. He met people along the way, with many of them becoming special life-long friends. Scott had a special connection with animals. He enjoyed the search for a good horse that could be trained to become a champion race horse. He enjoyed fishing and especially loved going coon hunting, coyote hunting, and bird hunting. Scott watched his black and white westerns everyday and made himself honorary coach for the OU Sooners. More than anything, he enjoyed hanging out with his friends and cracking a cold one every chance he got.

The most important things in Scott’s life were his only son, Mark and his 4 grandchildren: Boyd, Morgan, Kinzie, and Payton. After he retired, he was able to be a part of raising them, and seeing their sports and achievements firsthand. You couldn’t tell Scott anything wrong about his grandchildren because to him, they were perfect angels and you would lose that argument. When Scott could no longer physically take care of the animals, he was so proud to hand it over to his son, Mark whom he admired, trusted, and loved deeply. He was also able to teach all he knew and pass over the reins to his grandson, Boyd. It is his love for Morgan and Kinzie that had no bounds and they both had him wrapped around their hearts and their fingers. His time with his grandson, Payton, may have been short in time, but it was long in love. He also shared a special relationship with Toni. He loved giving her a hard time and he loved that she in turn gave him a hard time too. She loved it. One thing most people didn’t know was how kind hearted and giving he was. If someone was in need, and he heard about it, he would go to the bank and deliver the money, no questions asked. He would only ask that they never told a soul as he was a private man and was not looking for credit or attention.

Scott is survived by his son, Mark Roberts and Toni of Maysville; stepdaughters: Misti Dawn Settle of Chickasha and Tandi Massey of Washington; 4 grandchildren: Boyd, Morgan and Kinzie Roberts, and Payton Brawley; and the love of his life, Dusti Rose, of the home.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Oma Lee Roberts and Ralph Patton, his Aunt Avis, and his Uncle Red.
