Roddy Gene Childers was born on September 8, 1968, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Ronald and Carolyn (Dutton) Childers and passed away on January 22, 2024, in Denton, Texas at the age of 55 years.
Roddy was a graduate of Lindsay High School. Roddy married Shawna Cole and they made their home in Marietta. Roddy was a master carpenter by trade and had also founded, created, built and took great pride in several businesses including: Childers Trailers, Mom and Pops at Lake Murray, Top Gun Painting, Childers Painting, Adventure Painting, R and R Auto, and Triple C Tackle. His most recent adventure was helping two of his boys start up their own business, Limitless Construction.
Roddy was big on watching sports, especially OU. BOOMER SOONER!! If it wasn’t a sporting event he was watching, I’ll bet you a sweet tea it was Duck Dynasty. He coached little league baseball and basketball. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, dirt bikes, and jet skis. Roddy loved fishing, camping, and hanging out at the lake with his family.
Roddy was really big on family and making sure everyone was taken care of. He would give you whatever you needed as long as he was able. Roddy will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survived by: his wife, Shawna Childers of Marietta, Oklahoma; sons: Daniel Barger of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Devin DeHaven and Christine Wallace of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Jeremy Childers and Cheyenne of Lindsay, Oklahoma, and Ridge Childers and Haley Joyner of Marietta, Oklahoma; daughter, Destiny DeHaven of Ada, Oklahoma; brother, Justin Childers and Ginny of Lindsay, Oklahoma; sister, Ronda Sanders and Scotty of Lindsay, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Shylee Childers, Rowdy Childers, Kierstyn Childers, Jeremiah Childers, Cayden Roberts, Kayson Evans, and Tucker Childers.
Preceded by: his parents, Ronald Childers and Carolyn Childers King.
Friends and Family Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the Winans Funeral Home Chapel in Maysville, Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Erin Springs Baptist Church. Burial at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
