Richard "Dick" Leon Stanbery

Richard “Dick” Leon Stanbery of Maysville was born on December 21, 1947 in Pekin, Illinois to Wiley Osborn Stanbery and Lucy Lurettie (Wiebe) Stanbery. He passed from this life on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at his home north of Maysville, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years.

Dick grew up in Pekin, IL and graduated from Pekin High School and later attended college for 2 years. He married Darlene Honican on February 21, 1970 in Weston, Missouri. He loved his country and served in the United States Coast Guard for 10 years. In 2001 they moved from Watsworth, Ohio to Maysville. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was very proud of the certified equipment manager title he received in 2002. Dick loved his family and going out to eat with them. He enjoyed reading books from the “Truth for Life”, being outdoors, fishing, and was an avid OU Football and KC Chiefs fan. He loved God, good preaching, reading and studying his Bible. Dick’s church and his church family were very important to him. He was a kind hearted soul will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene of the home.
Son, Scotty Leon Stanbery and wife Dana of Effingham, Kansas and daughter, Darla Anne Cowley and husband, Matthew of Maysville.
Eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald L. Stanbery; sister, Rose Mary Lutz and Jeanie Stanbery.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville with Bro. Will Fuentes and Bro. Tim Carr officiating under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Burial will be held on 2:00 pm, Friday, February 11. 2022 in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Weston, Missouri under the direction of Vaughns Funeral Home, Weston, Missouri.
