Richard Curtis Bowen of Checotah, formerly of Maysville was born on May 31, 1949 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Garland and Pearl (Shelton) Bowen and he passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years.
Richard grew up in the Maysville area, graduating from Maysville High School in 1967. He served his country in the U. S. Army and retired as a Major. He loved spending time with his family when they could all get together. Richard enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, shooting guns, going to the lake, and playing pool with his friends. He married Brandie Wilson on September 22, 2012 in Maysville. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
His survivors include his wife, Brandie of Checotah.
Sons: Colt Bowen, Checotah; Richard Bowen of Moore; Lyndell Bowen; Leland Johnson; and Sergeant First Class Aaron Johnson of Lawton.
Daughters: Grace Bowen of Checotah; Rebecca McCurdy of Kingfisher; Linda Bosworth; and Sherri Snell and husband Jake of Paoli.
15 grandchildren
Brother, Larry Joe Bowen of Lawton and a sister, Jennifer Hatzfeld of Woodland, California.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Pearl Bowen; a brother, Kenneth Garland Bowen; sister, Brenda Lee Bowen, and niece, Janet Bowen.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 14, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with John R. Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Purdy Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
