Opal Leona “Squeak” Price of Lindsay was born on November 24, 1930 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to James Franklin and Lottie Elizabeth (Lefever) Price and she passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Lindsay, Oklahoma.Leona was a lifelong Lindsay resident. She grew up on the family farm, south of Lindsay and attending the country school of Snider, then graduating from Lindsay High School in 1949. She worked for Rural Electric Cooperative for 52 ½ years, retiring as manager of accounting and finance, she was very committed to the REC program and rural people and always placed her concern for the Cooperative members before her own. Squeak enjoyed bowling and playing bunco. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay and has served as Sunday School Secretary in several different departments. She was a 45 year member of the Garvin County Farm and Community Education Association and served as President, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer of the Garvin County Extension Homemaker Group. Squeak was a member of the Lindsay Historical Society and the Lindsay Municipal Hospital Auxiliary and was also a founding member and trustee of the Lindsay Hospital Foundation, Inc. She will be greatly missed by all of her many friends.She is survived by a niece, Carolyn Cress and husband George of Houston, Texas,and many friends that called her “Mom”, “Grandmother Squeak”, and special friend.Leona was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lottie Price; brothers, Earl Ray Price and James Roy Price; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sophia Elizabeth “Toogie” Price-Knapp and Charlie Knapp.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Lindsay, Oklahoma with Rev. Randy Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Erin Springs Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
