Michael “Mike” Dennis McIlvoy was born on June 30, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Carroll and Bea (Hall) McIlvoy and passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

A 1970 graduate of Del City High School Mike furthered his education with an Associate’s Degree from Rose State in 1972, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from THE University of Oklahoma in 1974, and lastly a Master of Science Degree from Central State University in 1985. Mike started his teaching career as a social studies teacher, baseball and basketball coach at Wellston High School from 1975-76. Mike moved to Carl Albert Schools in 1976. He was a dedicated coach and teacher for Carl Albert for 42 years. Mike was coach for football, basketball, and baseball for Carl Albert Junior High from 1976 ~ 2007 while also teaching Oklahoma history from 1983 ~ 2007. He moved to Carl Albert High in 2008 where he finished up his career teaching Oklahoma History in 2018. He enjoyed his work and truly wanted to make an impact on the students. He was a die hard TITAN.

Mike was not only active in school but also in the community. He served as Del City’s youngest City Councilman from 1980~1985, youngest Vice Mayor 1984~1985, served on Senator Don Nickles’ Military Academy Selection Committee in 1982, served on Mid-Del ACT Negotiations Team in 1980, and served on Bethel Acres Youth Baseball Council from 1988~1990. 

Mike married Mary Jacobs in December of 1976, they had two children: Ryan and Bo. Mike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured the time spent with his family and enjoyed time spent at Lake Texoma. Mike enjoyed watching baseball, really any sporting event. 

Survived by: wife, Mary McIlvoy; son, Ryan McIlvoy and Jaymi of Choctaw, Oklahoma and their children: Ty and Cooper; son, Bo McIlvoy and Ashley of Durant, Oklahoma and their son, Graham; brother, Greg McIlvoy and Stephanie of Harrah, Oklahoma; and sister, Glenna Wright and Frank of Gore, Oklahoma.

Preceded by: parents, Carroll and Bea McIlvoy.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel in Maysville, Oklahoma. Services under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
