Martha Charlene “Sissy” Hampton was born to Leonard and Ona Mae (Malone) Hampton on July 10, 1947, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Her earthly journey was filled with challenges. She began her eternal journey early Sunday morning November 26, 2023, at the Lindsay Manor Nursing Home in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Sissy lived her entire life in the Wallville/Lindsay area. She loved animals and grew up around horses, mules, chickens, guineas, cats, and dogs. She enjoyed her coloring books and puzzles as well as visits with family and friends. Many evenings were spent out under the big shade tree on the west side of the family’s house enjoying visits with neighbors and perhaps some watermelon or homemade ice cream. She was blessed with several caregivers throughout her life. After the passing of her mom in 1990, Bertie Mayhan cared for her until 2009. At that time, Sissy entered the Lindsay Manor Nursing Home and lived there 14 years. Hazel White was faithful to visit her during this time. We are thankful for the staff of Lindsay Manor and their care throughout the years for Sissy.
Sissy was preceded in death by her mom and dad and also a brother, Bob Hunt, of Bright, Indiana. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Laura Rolf of Bright, Indiana and many friends from the Wallville/Lindsay area.
Funeral service will be graveside at the Antioch cemetery on Friday December 1, 2023, at 1pm officiated by Bro. Steve Mayhan. Pallbearers will be friends of Sissy.
Services are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at: www.winansfuneralhome.com
