Lonnie "Gordon" Hughes was born on July 16, 1962, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to James Lonnie Hughes and Alma Jo (Hill) Hughes and passed away on June 19, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years.
Gordon was a lifelong resident of Lindsay. He attended Lindsay Schools and in his younger years he liked to rodeo. On October 10, 1986, Gordon married Michelle Rutledge and they were married 37 years at the time of his passing. Gordon worked as a rig mechanic for National Oil Well of Varco where he was employed for the last 18 years.
In his spare time Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially river fishing, coon hunting, and back roading. He always raised a huge vegetable garden. Gordon liked animals and old stray animals were always welcome at his home. His door was also open to any kid that needed a place to stay.
Gordon was a family man. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, they brought him so much joy. Gordon enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Gordon will be deeply missed.
Survived by: his wife, Michelle Hughes; mother, Alma Jo Hughes; son, Kyle Hughes of Lindsay, Oklahoma; daughters: Rae’Anna Hughes and Robbie Roper of Lexington, Oklahoma and Hae’ly Hughes and Michael Sharrock of Lindsay, Oklahoma; sisters: Vicky Janway and Chris of Heavener, Oklahoma and Nita Kay Branch and Billy of Lindsay, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Haedyn Cooper, Ava Rae Hughes, Walker Hughes, and Raylan Sharrock; mother-in-law, Linda Rutledge of Lindsay, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Crystal Carroll and Scotty of Dibble, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Jake Rutledge and Tonya Gibson of Lindsay, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by: his father, James Lonnie Hughes and brother James Ray Hughes; father-in-law, J. C. Rutledge.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 24, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Bro. Nick Johnson officiating. Burial at Erin Springs Cemtery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
