Leona Lee Smith

Leona Lee Smith was born on October 22, 1930 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Joseph Fleece Dietrich and Minnie (Shryock) Dietrich. She passed from this life on October 31, 2019 in Gainesville, Texas at the age of 89 years.

Leona grew up in Iowa, graduating from Ottumwa High School. She married Stanley R. Smith and to this union five children were born. She loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Leona enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, and yard work. She was a member of the Church of Christ and always enjoyed going to church with her family.

Her survivors include her sons: Sonny Smith of Euless, Texas; Ron Smith and wife Laverne of Lone Grove, OK; John Smith and wife Beth of Broken Arrow, OK; and Bill Smith and wife Clinta of Ruberta, OK.
Daughter, Standalee Weatherford and husband Steve and their son, Skylar of Paoli, OK.
Grandchildren: Laurie Burrow, Shacole Wells, Andy Smith, Josh Smith, Chase Smith, Derek Smith, and 11 great grandchildren. Her grand children will also serve as pallbearers.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley Smith; brothers, Jim, Raymond, Bob, Rex, and Chuck Dietrich; sisters, Violet, Betty, Annabelle, Mildred, Barbara, Mary, Linda; and a granddaughter, Trisha Lee Ann Smith.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am to noon on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm, Monday, November 11, 2019 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville. Burial will be in the Paoli Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
