Karen Sue Smith

Karen Sue Smith of Weatherford, Oklahoma was born on May 27, 1952 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Bill J. Smith and Wilma (Holland) Smith.  She passed from this life on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Weatherford, Oklahoma at the age of 65. Karen lived in Lindsay, OK until the 7th grade when her family moved to Maysville.  During High School Karen enjoyed playing 6 on 6 basketball where she was a tenacious defender.  Karen was involved in FHA, FFA, and many other activities.  She was crowned FFA Sweetheart as well as Homecoming Queen at Maysville High School before graduating in 1970.  She worked at the Garvin County Abstract Office for a while but her most important job was being a mother and homemaker.  She loved her children and grandchildren and time spent with them was extremely important to her.  She also enjoyed crocheting afghans for her grandchildren, eating snow cones, and going to Braums for ice cream and cherry limeades.  Karen lived in Duncan, Oklahoma for 12 years before moving to Weatherford, Oklahoma in the last 3 months.    Karen was a member of the Church of Christ and while her boys were young she taught them to love the Lord and made sure they were always in bible class and worship.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her sons, Billy Clabaugh and wife Shayla of Sayre, Oklahoma and Joe Clabaugh and wife Kayla of Lubbock, Texas. Brothers: Gary Smith and wife Diane of Ft. Worth, Texas and Tim Smith and wife Christi of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Kaylee, Jaden, Jabree, Cameron, Camden, Caleb and Paislee. She is also survived by one niece and four nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Bill J. and Wilma Smith. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Maysville Church of Christ, Maysville, Oklahoma.
