Juanita "Janie" Pearl Davis

 Juanita “Janie” Pearl Davis was born on October 26, 1928, in Bradley, Oklahoma to William Thomas Smith and Jesse Lee (Dungan) Smith. She passed away peacefully at her home in Alex, Oklahoma on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the age of 95 years.

 Janie married James Vernon Davis. She worked as a Dental Assistant for the majority of her career where she enjoyed developing friendships through the years and helping patients. 

 Janie loved being outside especially when it involved gardening. She was a fantastic cook who loved sharing her time with her family whenever possible. Janie’s favorite music to listen to was Gospel music. It didn’t matter who was singing for it was the message that the music carried that she loved. Often Janie would pass the time doing needlepoint and creating beautiful pieces to share. Janie was also a great seamstress. She could make something just by sight, she didn’t need a pattern. She was known to make more than one wedding dress and countless great grandchildren’s Halloween costumes. She could also patch and mend anything. One of Janie’s greatest joys was being able to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them all and each one held a special place in her heart.

 Janie will indeed be missed by her family and friends who will continue her legacy she left behind.

  Survived by: Son, Kenneth Davis and Jeanna of Norman, Oklahoma; daughters: Shirley Taylor of Alex, Oklahoma, Donna Buckles and David of Waco, Texas and Connie Crawford and Dennis of Alex, Oklahoma. Sister, Wanda Rogers of Washita, Oklahoma; 36 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

  Proceeding by: Parents, William and Jesse Smith; husband, James Vernon Davis; son-in-law, Ronnie Taylor; great grandson, Dillon Brewer; and ten brothers and sisters.

  Memorial Services will be held at Southern Baptist Chapel, Alex, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Tim Carr officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website
