Johnny Ray Newberry of Cibolo, Texas, formerly of Maysville, Oklahoma was born on August 18, 1956 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to John Monroe and Lona Mae Newberry. He took his last breath at the age of 64 on June 17, 2021in San Antonio surrounded by his loving family.
Johnny grew up in the Hughes and Maysville area, graduating from Maysville High School in 1974. During his high school years, he enjoyed showing his FFA pigs and bull riding. He married Norma Jean Semersky on July 23, 1988. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. The highlight of his days was speaking to his nieces and nephews. Johnny enjoyed OU football, playing his guitar, and listening to old time country and western music. He also enjoyed showing his Texas family the area where he grew up including Maysville and Pauls Valley. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Norma Jean Newberry of the home.
Sons: John Dustin Newberry of Oklahoma; Aaron Joseph Newberry and wife Amber of Cibolo, Texas; and Larry Jacob Newberry and wife Victoria of Cibolo, Texas.
Grandchildren: Dustin Cole, Cayleigh Rae, Brinden Jace, Bryson Zaine, Paisley Jean, Jaxon Baker; and great grandchildren: Blakely Rae and Wyatt Lee.
Sister, Margaret Ophelia O’Neal and her husband Bill of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lona Newberry; siblings, Willis Newberry, Julia Roebuck, and Lola Weatherford.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 7 pm, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, June 25, 2021 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville with Bro. Al Hunt and Bro. Joseph Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
