John Carson Herrrington

John Carson Herrington was born on February 11, 1930, in Portales, New Mexico to Earnest and Lillie (Griffin) Herrington and passed away on July 28, 2024, in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years.

John came from a large family, being one of nine children. He married Lois Bailey and around 1960 he moved to Maysville where John worked in the oilfield. After retiring he took up farming. He had to do something, he just couldn’t sit still. He enjoyed tending his cattle and walking the property. John also enjoyed woodworking and the companionship of his dogs. He was a very religious man and was always willing to lend a hand. 

Survived by: sons: Wesley Herrington and Patrice of Paoli, Oklahoma; Karl Herrington of Maysville, Oklahoma, and Clay Herrington of Maysville, Oklahoma; brothers: George Herrington, Wayne Herrington, and Joe Herrington; and grandchildren: Alexyss Putnam of Purcell and Eric Herrington of Maysville, Oklahoma.

Preceded by: parents, Earnest and Lillie Herrington; wife, Lois Herrington; daughter, Janice Herrington; brothers: Charlie Herrington, Joe Herrington, and Douglas Herrington; sisters: Viola Herrington, Dean Kirkendall, and Jean Hoover.

Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
