James "Jim" William Freeling

June 4, 1932 — January 21, 2019

James “Jim” William Freeling of Norman, formerly of Lindsay, was born on June 4, 1932 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to James Curtis and Bertie (Peeler) Freeling. He passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.

Jim was raised in Lindsay where he graduated from Lindsay High School in 1950 and attended Oklahoma State University. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. He married Katherine “Kitty” Wright on September 6, 1952 in Muskogee and to this union Curt, Kay, and David were born. Kitty passed away on December 18, 1985. On March 25, 1994 Jim married Wilda (Doby) Tucker in Norman, Oklahoma and they made their home in Lindsay until 18 months ago. He loved his family and their time they spent together. He enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to Country and Western music, watching western movies, and traveling. Branson and California were highlights of his experiences. Jim had been active in the Lion’s Club, a Master Mason, The Shriners, and the Royal Order of Jesters (ROJ). He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lindsay and liked spending time with his church family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Wilda of the home in Norman.
Sons: Curt Freeling and wife Rosalie of Decatur, Texas; David Freeling and wife Sharon of Oktaha, Oklahoma; and Greg Tucker and wife Tena of Lindsay.
Daughters: Kay King and husband Charley of Tulsa; Karen Adkins and husband Russell of Lindsay; and Pam Tucker of Oklahoma City.
11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Curtis and Bertie Freeling; wife, Kitty Freeling; and a sister, Jean Branch.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 25, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, Lindsay with Rev. Randy Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma.
