Jessie Laverne Beck Sanders of Maysville was born on October 1, 1935 in Chicota, Texas to John Morrison and Jessie (Arney) Morrison and passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 82 years.Laverne has lived in the Maysville area since she was five years old, attending Hughes School and Maysville High School. While growing up, she enjoyed playing basketball and softball. She married Vernon Beck on February 21, 1953 in Wayne, Oklahoma and to this union was born three sons. Laverne and Vernon owned and operated a gas station/ convenience store north of Maysville for many years. They were married for 52 years when he passed away in 2005. She enjoyed embroidery, feeding and watching wild birds and growing any kind of flowers. She was a great cook loved cooking for her family and the time they spent together. Laverne loved her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren and always bragged that she had the best daughters-in-law. She was always the caregiver of the family and she was proud of each one of them. Laverne married Earl Sanders on November 28, 2010 in Anadarko, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death in 2017. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and was the kitchen coordinator for funeral meals and socials at church. Laverne will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Her survivors include her sons: Mike Beck and wife Nancy of Oklahoma City and Steve Beck and wife Twilla of Tulsa.Grandchildren: Julie Beck and her son Noah Allen of Tulsa; Elizabeth and Joel Staggs and children, Jaxson and Avery of Purcell; Chelsea and Kelby Dickson and children, Bentleigh, KK, and Roman of Cleveland, OK; Gavin and Lora Beck and son, Sullivan of Norman; Garret and Christina Olson and children, Sawyer, Beckett, and Grady of Owasso; and Brian and Maria Olson and children, Brendon of Oklahoma City and Champayne and Caleb Horn and their daughter, Penelope of Edmond.Sisters: Hazel Shockey-Daniels and husband Vernon of Lexington and Donna Clark of Kirtland, New Mexico.Brothers: Bill Morrison and wife Frances of San Angelo, Texas; Wayne Morrison of Healdton; and Jim Morrison and wife Mary of Ozark, Arkansas.Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jessie Morrison; husbands, Vernon Beck and Earl Sanders; son Bob Beck; and brothers, Dean Morrison, Tom Morrison, and Doyle Morrison.Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 745, Maysville, OK 73057 or flowers may be sent - she loved them both.A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 pm, Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street, Maysville, OK.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with Bro.
