Jackie Lee Stratton of Maysville was born on April 3, 1945 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Jack Stratton and Geraldine (Holt) Stratton. He passed away at the age of 76 years on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in Oklahoma City after an extended illness.
Jackie’s great grandparents, the Guthries and the Holts, were some of the earliest residents of Beef Creek, Indian Territory then, after 1902, it became Maysville, I.T. and finally statehood in 1907.
Jackie’s early years were in Anadarko, Oklahoma moving to Oklahoma City for grade school and John Marshall High School when his dad, Jack, had the first televised Farm Show on WKY TV. His life was always “trucking” from delivering the Neon “Olympic Rings” sign over the amin entrance to the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. Also, the emergency delivery of the neon sign atop a building in downtown Los Angeles for the nationally televised ceremony for the breakup of the A.T.&T. Bell System, January 8, 1982. From there, apples from Washington State and vegetables from the Texas Valley and short-broomcorn from Mexico to Canada’s Institute for the Blind for making curling brooms. Jackie spent the night before “Murrah Bombing”, April 19, 1995, in his truck sleeping in the parking lot of the Pentagon in Washington D.C. delivering a load from Beaver Tool in Maysville. His last adventure was the Dalton Highway in Alaska. One of the most dangerous roads in the world. Known as the “Haul Road” from Fairbanks through Deadhorse to Prudhoe Bay above the Arctic Circle where he made many friends, including the American Native Forest Firefighters.
Jackie was baptized fifty years ago, along with his son, Cary in the First Baptist Church here in Maysville.

Grandson, Cody Alan Stratton of Cole,
Great granddaughter, Kyndrah Stratton, great grandson, Kason Stratton, and their mother, Christina Stratton all of Norman,
Brother, Jimmie Stratton and wife Jan of Salsbury, Massachusetts,
Sister, Jannettee Dreadfulwater of Tahlequah,
Aunt Mary Stratton Rice of Maysville, uncle and aunt, Tommy and Kay Holt of Maysville.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his brother, Jerry Stratton in 2016. His Aunt Margaret Stratton James and Aunt Ramona Holt Cooper Eaves. He also lost his granddaughter, Morgan in 2011 and more recently his grandson, C. J. (Cary) in 2019.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Maysville Cemetery with burial under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
