Irene Gaynell Bruner of Maysville was born on August 1, 1934 in Brady, Oklahoma to Raymond Harold and Mary Adelaide (Clark) Ward. She passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2020 in her home near Maysville at the age of 85 years.
Irene was a lifetime resident of the Maysville area where she had attended French, Story, and Maysville schools. She worked as a customer service representative for State Farm and Farm Bureau Insurance Agencies for many years before retiring. She married Joe Bruner on September 1, 1962 in Durant, Oklahoma. Irene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and spending time with them. Granny Rene or Memaw as she was known by the grandchildren loved to attend all of their events. She was a hard worker who enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, and cooking. She was a pillar of support for others and was always giving food to people. Irene was a member of the Maysville Alumni Association, Maysville Senior Citizens, and the First Baptist Church, where she really enjoyed her Sunday School class. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are three daughters, Claudia Reeves (Steve) of Maysville, Ingrid Page (Ricky) of Pauls Valley, and Linda White of Maysville.
Grandchildren: Stephanie Allen (Matt), Shem Wisener (Marie), Joe David Wisener, Krista Henson, Lacee Huix (Carlos), Tyler White, Caleb Smith (Haylee), Cody Smith, and Jessica McCraw.
Great grandchildren: Matti, Halli, Avery, Addi, Jordan, Julian, Jade, Aria, Mia, Auggie, Riverlyn, Sofia, Cassie, Eric, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
A sister-in-law, Freda Ward Leach of Oklahoma City.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Addie Ward; husband, Joe Bruner; son, Terry Joe Bruner; grandson, Justin White; and brother, Thomas Ward.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Maysville Cemetery with Rev. Steve Spangler officiating. Burial is under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
