Helen "Merlene" Jones

Helen “Merlene” Jones Robertson was born May 12, 1938, in Bradley, Oklahoma to Norman Jackson and Helen Mae (Huckeby) Branch and passed away on November 22, 2023, in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years. 

Merlene was a lifelong resident of the Lindsay area.  She was a graduate of Bradley High School.  On September 22, 1956, in Bradley, Oklahoma Merlene married Donald Leon Jones. On December 17, 1999, Merlene married the second love of her life, Cliff Robertson.

Merlene was a farm girl who enjoyed gardening and taking care of the cattle.  She was often known as the cattle whisperer. She was also an accomplished fence builder. She loved loud sports. Thunder basketball and OSU football were some of her favorites. Merlene was the proudest fan of anything her grandchildren were involved in.  

Merlene was also a homemaker and quite a cook. She made the best sweet tea in the country.  Above all Merlene was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved spending time with her family.  

Merlene is survived by:

Sons: Bruce Jones and Brenda of Maysville, Oklahoma and Brady Jones and LaNinna of Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Daughters: Dawna Foster of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Lori Hunter and Greg of Purcell, Oklahoma.

Brothers: Johnny Branch of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Bryan Branch and Joan of Lindsay, Oklahoma, and Tom Branch of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

Sisters: Maxine Barrett and Rex of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sue Wilhelm and Craig of Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Grandchildren: Wendi Duke and Dillon, Justin Jones and Jaycie, Justin Henry and Tiffany, Brandi Hunter, Travis Hunter and Krystal, Dalton Hunter and Julie, Jordan Lukens, Josh Lukens and Tess, Shaelyn Dawn, Shane Brady, and Scott Bryan Jones.

Great grandchildren: Bodee and Stoney Duke, Chipper and Paxxley Jones, Macy and Morgan Henry, Kaven, Bekah, Sylvi, and Dawson Hunter, Audri and Parker Lukens.

Preceded by: Her husband, Donald Leon Jones; husband, Clifford Robertson; parents, Jack and Helen Branch; brothers: EJ and Bill Branch; son-in-law, Rodney Foster and granddaughter, Casey Jones.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Burial will be held the Bradley Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.
