Helen Joyce Cox

Helen Joyce Cox of Lindsay was born on January 8, 1937 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Gussie and Emma Irene (Owens) Buchanan and she passed from this life on Thursday, May 19, 2022 in Blanchard, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.

Helen lived in Lindsay all her life and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1955. She married Oliver Eugene “Bee” Cox in November 24, 1954 in Lindsay. She loved her family and enjoyed having get togethers with them. Helen also enjoyed cooking, traveling, and card and board games. She always loved eating a good steak. She was a member of Erin Springs Baptist Church where she worked as the custodian for 20+ years. Helen loved her church and was faithful to go to Falls Creek Baptist Camp and cook for the children. She was also a member of the Red Hatters Club. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughters: Nowana Hyatt of Maysville; René Groehler and husband, Jody of Blanchard,
One sister, Shirley Moore; and brothers: Jerry Buchanan and Ronnie Buchanan.
Grandchildren: April Cox, Amanda Evans, Bradley Groehler, Terri Morton, Clay Groehler; 11 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded on death by her parents; husband, Oliver Eugene “Bee” Cox; grandson, Kenneth Hornbeck; great-great granddaughter, Lilly Ann Elizabeth Hornbeck; and brother, Harold Buchanan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church, Erin Springs, Oklahoma with Bro. Clay Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Erin Springs Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
