Gerald Wayne Mears of Maysville was born on December 27, 1944 in Gladewater, Texas to Earl Henry Mears and Roberta (Coffey) Mears. He passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years.Gerald grew up in Gladewater graduating from Gladewater High School. He worked in the oilfield all of his life, working in Africa from 1980 to 1985 before being transferred to Maysville to work at the Texaco Plant. He married Gloria Ritter on October 16, 1993 in Whitesboro, Oklahoma, but they were together for 30 years. Gerald loved spending time with family. He enjoyed eating good food, deer hunting, fishing, gardening, watching auto mechanics shows, and restoring his red 1955 Chevy pickup. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.His survivors include his wife, Gloria of the home.Daughters: Robin Denges and husband Donnie of Denison, TX; Marty Hendrix of Gilmer, TX; Rana Summers of Maysville; and Nina Bailey and husband John of Maysville.Brothers: Donald Mears and wife Joann of Jefferson, TX; Charlie Mears and wife Brenda of Gilmer, TX; Glenn Mears of North Carolina; Johnny Mears and wife Deb of Talco, TX; and Roger Dale Mears of Gladewater, TX.Sisters: Sharon Ford of Longview, TX; Janice Castleberry of Longview, TX; and Mary Lou Mears of Illinois.Grandchildren: Jonathan Mears, Hagan Cooper, Richard Loyd, Paige Loyd, Shade Donaho, Jolie Summers, Ryker Bailey, Cade Bailey, and Cale Bailey, and 4 great granddaughters.Mother-in-law, JoAnn Ritter of Maysville.Sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Eulonda Albright and husband Terry, Barbara Levis, and Sharon Scarce all of Maysville.Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Roberta Mears; brothers, Paul and Maurice Mears; a sister, Julia Dougan; father-in-law, Odell Ritter; brothers-in-law, George Levis and Kelly Scarce.A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, December 15, 2017 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street, Maysville, OK.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville, OK with Charlie Mears officiating.
