Eron Elvis Wilkins, Jr. of Lindsay was born on February 5, 1932 in Wellston, Oklahoma to Eron Elvis Wilkins, Sr. and Trudia (Bone) Wilkins. He passed from this life on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.Eron joined the United States Air Force when he was 16 years old, where he served his country for the next 20 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He married Shirley Simpson on June 17, 1956 in Meeker, Oklahoma and they lived in Roswell, New Mexico before moving to Lindsay in 1966. He was a very quiet and simple man who loved spending time with his family. Eron enjoyed eating desserts, taking care of his yard, and visiting with his friends at the coffee shop. Earlier on in his life he enjoyed prospecting and always wanted to return to Alaska to pan for gold. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.His survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley of the home in Lindsay.Children: son Dale Wilkins and wife Pam of Lindsay and daughter, Charlotte Johnson and husband Terry of Newcastle.And 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.Eron was preceded in death by his parents, Eron and Trudia Wilkins; a son, Tony Wilkins; brother, Virgil Wilkins; and a sister, Delores Whitmore.A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street (Hwy 19), Maysville, OK.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, December 28, 2017 at the Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Oklahoma with Rev.
