Edward Lee “Troy” Lauderdale of Grand Prairie, Texas was born on December 21, 1936 in Story, Oklahoma to Scott and Dortha (Simmons) Lauderdale. He passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 in Arlington, Texas at the age of 80 years.Edward grew up in the Story community. He graduated from Maysville High School in 1955 and went on to attend Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma University. He married his first love, Rochelle Guthrie on January 31, 1959 in Durant, Oklahoma and they shared 58 years together. They resided in Texas most of their lives. In 1986 they founded an air freight business named Challenger Freight Systems, Inc. and operated it until his retirement in 2005. He loved the business that he and his wife grew together. Edward loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. He enjoyed working, fishing, traveling, and dominoes. He was a member of Lamar Baptist Church. Edward will be greatly missed by his family and friends.His survivors include his wife, Rochelle of Grand Prairie, Texas.Daughters: Lisa Otts and husband Randy of Magnolia, Texas and Tara Cantrell and husband Randy of Arlington, Texas. Grandchildren: Candace Emerson and husband Wayne of Irving, Texas; Whitney Otts of Spring, Texas; Corey Cantrell of Arlington, Texas; Cody Otts of Magnolia, Texas, and Cade Cantrell of Arlington, Texas.Great grandchildren: Everette Emerson and Parker Otts.Sisters-in-law, Cathy Lauderdale of Maysville and Charlotte Young of Lubbock, Texas.Brother-in-law, Bill Guthrie and his wife Carolyn of Justin,Tx/Maysville, Ok.And several nieces and nephews.Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Dortha Lauderdale; his in-laws, Bill and Helen Guthrie; brothers, Lawrence “Poncho” Lauderdale and James Wesley “Dub” Lauderdale.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 4, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, OK with James Alan Lauderdale officiating.
