Dorothy Jo McDade

Dorothy Jo McDade was born on April 27, 1926, in Davis, Oklahoma, to Oscar Franklin Cops and Frankie Mae (Barnes) Cops. She passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, in Purcell, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years.

Dorothy started school in Davis, then moved to Lindsay where her parents farmed. The family later moved to the Payne community, and after she graduated from the Bryant School, she later attended Dibble High School. She was thirteen years old when she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and joined the Payne Baptist Church. On April 26, 1943, she married Herman McDade at the Noble Baptist Church. To this union was born five wonderful children, Norman “Pudge”, Calvin Dennis, Ronnie Darrell, Lois Kay, and Etta Mae. Herman preceded her in death on December 21, 1998, after 55 years of marriage. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved her family dearly. She was the glue that held the family together, and she had an extremely strong work ethic, from being a homemaker to a farmer. Dorothy loved God and studying his word. She also enjoyed reading the newspaper to keep up with current times. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Calvin McDade of Maysville; grandchildren: Dianna, Kimmie, Wendy, Ronny, Mary Ann, David Joe, Parker, Clifford, Johnny, Stacey, Tracey, and numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman McDade, children, Ronnie McDade, Norman “Pudge” McDade, Lois Kay McDade, and Etta Mae McDade-VanDyke; siblings, George Arval Cops, Clyde Hugh Cops, Anna Pauline Cops, and Lorene Cops.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Maysville Cemetery. In the event of rain, the services will be held at Winans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
