David “Leroy” Chandler of Lindsay passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 in his home at the age of 92 years. He was born on September 5, 1928 in Ada, Oklahoma to Steven Ivan and Lillian (Peaster) Chandler.
Leroy was a lifelong resident of Lindsay. He served his country in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Reba Nell Mills on November 5, 1956 in Gainesville, Texas and together they shared 64 years. He and Reba took care of each other. Leroy was a self-employed dozer operator, a job he truly enjoyed. He taught his family how to run bulldozers which enabled them to make a living doing the same job. He worked hard all of his life and liked to help other people. Leroy enjoyed building things out of balsam wood and found joy in giving those items to his family. When he was younger, he liked to ride motorcycles and enjoyed airplanes and at one time he owned one. Leroy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Nell Chandler of the home.
A brother, Ivan Leon Chandler of Lindsay.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Oneta Williams, Mildred Duke, and Inez Rogers.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, Oklahoma with burial under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
