Danny "Dan" Rae Cole

Danny Rae Cole of Payne was born on November 19, 1942 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Doc Cole and Lillie (Griffin) Cole. He passed from this life on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in his home at the age of 75 years.Dan grew up in the Pernell area graduating from Pernell High School in 1960. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in 1964 and a Master’s Degree in Education in 1966 both from Southeastern State College. He married Sue Ann Brandenburg on August 25, 1962 in Oklahoma City and they lived in several places with the last 30 years being in the Payne Community. Dan coached and taught school for a total of 30 years with ten years spent in Hooker Schools and eight years in Wayne Schools. He was ordained as a Baptist deacon in Holdenville in 1974 and was licensed as a pastor in Hooker in 1986. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, and all aspects of his granddaughters’ lives. Dan was a member of the Payne Baptist Church and he will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue Ann of the home.A son, Daniel “Rowdy” Cole and wife Sonya of Norman.Daughter, Holly Cole Bristol and husband Randy of San Antonio, Texas.Brothers: Dale Cole and wife Shirley, Don Cole and wife Madalyn, Darvis Cole and wife Phyllis, and Dewayne Cole and wife Carla.Sisters: Della Cobb and husband Gene and Delma Hall and husband Woodrow.Grandchildren: Rylea Cole, Hadley Bristol, Sutton Bristol, and Raegan Cole.And many other relatives and former students.Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Lillie Cole; and brothers, Doc Cole, Jr., Dennis Cole, and Darrel Cole.The family would like to thank Loving Care Hospice for all their help.In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to: Baptist Children’s Home, 16301 S. Travis Wollenberg, Bro. Earl Perry, and Bro. Ron Jarman officiating. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
