Coy Burl McCaskill

January 10, 1940 — June 24, 2019

Coy Burl McCaskill was born January 10,1940 in the Garvin Springs Community near Maysville, OK in the family home to parents Johnie Moton McCaskill and Iva Viola (St. Clair) McCaskill. He passed from this life on Monday, June 24, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years.

Burl grew up on a farm and at an early age began running a few head of cattle which he enjoyed doing his entire lifetime. Burl graduated from Maysville High School in 1958 and studied Mathematics at East Central University in Ada OK for two years until he decided to get married. He married his wife Carlene Kittrell on November 26, 1960 in Maysville and moved to Lindsay OK working in an oil support business – Ellison Paraffin Company. On a quest to get a job with retirement benefits, Burl was hired as a civil service worker at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City OK in 1966 – a position that he worked hard in for 38 years. He was elated to finally get the retirement checks for a good many years and enjoyed farming and running his cattle. His church was of extreme importance his entire life attending Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for almost 80 years. He wore many hats at the church being the church clerk for many decades, mowing the church yard every summer, and going during winter months early on Sunday morning to the church to turn the heat up so the members and visitors would be comfortable. The church was started in his Grandmother’s home and she later served as the musician on the church pump organ when Burl was a little boy.

Burl is survived by sons Don McCaskill of Wichita Falls TX and Dr. Jim McCaskill of Norman OK. Grandchildren include Lacie (Jakob) Ramming - Lindsay OK, Brandon (Kortney) McCaskill- Maysville OK, Jordan (Brent) Jenkins – Purcell OK, Madison, Matthew, and Maitlyn McCaskill – Norman OK. Great grandchildren: Wyatt Coy (W.C.) McCaskill of Maysville, Ok, Cord and Karlie Ramming of Lindsay, Ok, A Sister, Aleyne Tomlinson, Lindsay, Ok; A Sister in Law, Mary McCaskill, of Elmore City, Ok. Many Nieces and Nephews that were special as well.

Burl was preceded in death by parents, Johnie and Viola; Wife, Carlene; brothers, Jerry and Gary Don.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Antioch Cemetery with Bro. Eddie Wollenberg officiating. Burial will be under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
