Calvin Dennis McDade was born on July 21, 1946, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Herman and Dorothy (Cops) McDade. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 28, 2025, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, at the young age of 78 years.
Calvin was a graduate of Wayne High School. As a lifelong resident of the Purcell/Maysville area, Calvin, his siblings, and parents began their long life’s journey as farmers, living a cowboy’s way of life, and providing a living for their family and their family’s family with the sweat off their backs and nothing but a hard day’s work of living off God’s land. This life was not easy, and Calvin lived a long life with a troubled heart. He was loved, and we pray that God grants him the comfort that is promised and that he may rest easy.
Calvin enjoyed watching horse racing, bull riding, Wheel of Fortune, Fox News, and More Fox News, and Fox Business News. Music always played a part in his life, and he thoroughly enjoyed the songs of Marty Robbins and countless other singers of classic country music. Calvin enjoyed horses and being around them. Suicide Slew was his quarter horse that raced at many events in Remington Park, Blue Ribbon Downs, and The Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He will be missed dearly by his family and by the community of Maysville.
Calvin is survived by his son Ronny McDade of Austin, Texas, with many children.
Daughters Dianna McDade Vecchio (husband Tom), of Southlake, Texas, and their four children: Mike (wife Rachel and daughter Ruby); Tommy (wife Jess and daughter Jemma); Rachel (Travis); and Jim (wife Eva).
Daughter Shelley Kimberlyn McDade Alderman of Granbury, Texas, and her three children: Haliegh Russell (husband Chris and children Whitten, Gracey, Ellie, and Sawyer); Vincent Gallegos (son Oliver); and DJ Gary.
Daughter Mary McDade Wells (husband Bryan) of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, and their three children: Britni Nelson (husband Tanner and children Layla, Jerzee, and Knox); Zachery Wells and Christopher Wells.
