Bobby Wayne Faulkenberry

June 20, 1936 — April 24, 2021

This is the story of Bob “Red” Faulkenberry of Lindsay, Oklahoma who passed away on April 24, 2021. Bob was a wonderful man that was loved and cherished by many. Poppy, Daddy Bob, and Uncle Red were just a few names he was called. He was an amazing husband, father, uncle, brother, poppy, and great grand poppy.

Bob’s story starts on June 20, 1936, he was the seventh of nine children born to Bill and Ilar (Blaylock) Faulkenberry in Howe, Oklahoma. Many stories could be told on this loving families childhood. The family moved to Pernell where basketball was his passion. Later he moved to Maysville where he graduated from high school in 1954. If asked, he still holds the most points scored in one game at the Maysville Gym, 62, to be exact.

Bob started working in the oilfield and this is where he met the love of his life, Margery (Scott) Faulkenberry. Together they built their home in McClain County for 61 years. The two worked together, side by side, building the family farm for all to visit and enjoy. They raised pigs, cows, horses, sheep, goats, fed bottle calves, and sold eggs. Bob drove a school bus to help with purchasing the farm. Here they welcomed their two children, Mitchell Wayne Faulkenberry and Leslie Denise Faulkenberry Roberson.

He loved farming, coon hunting, quail and pheasant hunting, fishing, gardening, and working cattle. One of his favorite passions was enjoying watching his daughter rodeo and play basketball. He was an avid Lindsay Leopard fan. He continued to watch his grandchildren play sports at Washington High School, where he became a Washington Warrior fan. Bob and Margery had their own seats in the gym and everyone knew those were theirs. Dad and his best friend Curtis Hayes were the best score keeper for the Washington Softball tournaments. He continued to watch them both play at the college level.

The last three years his enjoyment was racing Weston and Waylon on his scooter while they drove their tractors to the barn to get the eggs.

Bob enjoyed his church and church family at Criner Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margery Faulkenberry; son, Mitchell Wayne Faulkenberry; 5 brothers, Dewey, James, Donald, Jerry, and Curtis; 2 sisters, Dorothy and Geraldine.

His survivors include his daughter, Denise Roberson of Lindsay.
Grandson, Tanner Roberson of Lindsay and granddaughter, Kelby and husband Keith Van Paul of Lindsay. Two great grandchildren, Weston and Waylon Van Paul.
Brother, Chubby Faulkenberry of Oregon. Two sisters, Bobby Janway of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Jackie Janway of Oklahoma City.
He is also survived by many cousins, other family members, and friends.
