Barbara Ruth Turner, of Maysville, passed away at the age of 63 on Thursday June 16th, 2022, after a short, yet courageous, battle with cancer. She left this world peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on March 8, 1959, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, as the second of three children to Benny Lee Dutton and Sarah Elizabeth “Beth” (Pauley) Dutton, of Lindsay, Oklahoma. Barbara grew up in Lindsay and was a member of Lindsay High School’s 1977 graduating class.
Barbara met Richard Turner, of neighboring Maysville, Oklahoma and the two were married in Gainesville, Texas before choosing to make their home in Maysville for the next 38 years. Barbara welcomed two daughters with Richard, Rae Dawn (Turner) Kittrell and Sarah Ann (Turner) Holmes, as well as becoming a stepmother to Richard’s sons, Wesley Turner and Terry Turner, and daughter, Christy (Turner) Bartels. She loved her family dearly and always had a freshly cooked meal on the table, as she enjoyed a life-long love of cooking.
In addition to being an accomplished homemaker, Barbara maintained a long career as a phlebotomist, primarily at the Mercy Clinic in Pauls Valley. Barbara enjoyed traveling and could often be found taking motorcycle trips with Richard to visit new places dotted across the country. She also had a knack for gardening and could often be found maintaining and decorating her flower beds and porch. Later in life, Barbara developed a love of quilting and delighted in incorporating special meaning into her chosen patterns and materials. Barbara leaves behind a loving network of family, friends, and co-workers who will all greatly miss her presence.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard Turner, of Maysville, mother, Beth Dutton, of Lindsay, daughters, Rae Kittrell, of Moore, and Sarah Holmes and her husband, Rhett Holmes, of Goldsby, sister, Vanessa Courtney and her husband, Joe Courtney, of Blanchard, grandsons, Ryan Kittrell, of Maysville, Ryder Kittrell and Rylan Kittrell, of Moore, and granddaughter, Alice Holmes, of Goldsby, as well as by her stepchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, Morgann, Harrison, Levi, Luke, Tanner, and Jake, and one step-great-grandson, Otto.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benny Dutton, and brother, Tonni Lynn Dutton.
