Amanda Renea Medellin, born on October 3, 1987, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Edward Ray Dutton and Donna Sue (Reed) Dutton, regrettably passed away on May 31, 2024, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, at the age of 36.
Amanda, a long-time resident of Lindsay, graduated from Lindsay High School. She met her middle school sweetheart, Eric on March 17, 2000 when she was 13 and he was 15. They later married on January 19, 2005 and had three beautiful children together: Erika Renae, Ava Khloe Dawn, and Benjamin Bentley Medellin.
Family held a significant place in Amanda's life, serving as the core of her existence. She excelled in her role as a mother, cherishing every moment spent with her children and ensuring they felt her unwavering love. Additionally, Amanda demonstrated remarkable qualities as an aunt, extending her affection and care to her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
Amanda had a passion for traveling, camping, and embarking on spontaneous trips. One of her favorite trips was going to the Grand Prairie Flea Market in Dallas, TX. She delighted in involving her family members in these activities, even when they would say they wouldn't be able to go. She insisted they were going. Amanda was an amazing cook and through her cooking, that was her way of showing her family she loved them. She would always say food makes everyone happy. Amanda insisted that everyone eat regardless of their hunger levels. If someone expressed a disliking for a particular dish, she would assert that their taste buds were subject to change and encourage them to try it again.
Amanda attended truck driving school in 2021, where she successfully obtained her Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs). She didn't stop there; she went on to acquire additional endorsements, including Hazmats, doubles and triples, and tankers. Amanda was an overachiever at everything.
Amanda's children were students at Lindsay Public School. She was always eager to assist and contribute in any way she could. She served as a substitute teacher before her change of career.
Amanda had a deep passion for animals and could often be found at the veterinary clinic. One day, she realized that since she was spending so much time at the vet, she might as well get paid for her efforts. She decided to pursue her passion for working with animals and became a vet technician at Grassland Veterinary Services. As she gained experience, Amanda worked as vet tech to consider the possibility of furthering her education and obtaining a formal degree in veterinary technology. She enrolled in college at OSU-OKC and eagerly looked forward to her future as a registered veterinary technician (RVT). Amanda had a genuine connection with the animals she cared for and their owners. She made numerous friends during her time at the veterinary clinic and was highly regarded for her dedication and expertise.
Amanda was a member of the Cox City Baptist Church where she was the youth director assistant. She was a very involved member and was very dedicated to sharing God’s word. Amanda’s goal was to try to get every kid she knew in church. Amanda selflessly took on the responsibility of providing transportation for her church community. She poured her heart and soul into each child. She always said if she can at least get 1 child to follow God she is doing something right. She also served as a missionary to Haiti in 2019.
Amanda was a very sincere person with a heart of gold. She was a lady of integrity who never met a stranger. Amanda always made time for people and always made them feel important. She had a infectious smile and she could light up any room. When she saw someone she knew, her family knew that they might as well pull up a seat because she was long winded.
Amanda will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends.
