Velma Lorene Rushing of Lindsay was born on February 7, 1935 in Cole, Oklahoma to William James and Bertha (Green) Price. She passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years.Velma grew up in California where she graduated from high school in Tulare. She married Willis Rushing on July 15,1955 in Norman, Oklahoma and they moved to Lindsay where they have lived for the last 62 years. She was a tireless worker who had worked as a nurse’s aide at Lindsay Memorial Hospital, the nursing home, and the sewing factory. Velma was a very generous and giving person who loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed seeing people happy and they were happy when they were eating her cooking. She loved gardening, crafts, sewing, and she had made her children’s clothing for them when they were growing up. Velma was affiliated with the Banner Baptist Church and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Her survivors include her husband of 62 years, Willis Rushing of the home in Lindsay.A daughter, Debbie Foster and husband Steve of Moore.Son, Chris Rushing and Derindia Barrett of Lindsay.Sister, Joyce Chalmers of California.Brothers: Billy Price of Walla Walla, Washington and Cecil Price ofWinslow, Arkansas.Grandchildren: Jeremy Foster and wife Shana of Mustang and Amanda Stice of Norman.Great grandchildren: Beckett Stice, Madilynn Wright, Tripp Foster, and Blakelyn Foster.Velma was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Price; sister, Ann Bowser; and brother Kenneth Price.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 17, 2017 at Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, OK with Bro.
