Gary "Sonny" Wayne Baker

Gary “Sonny” Wayne Baker was born on November 5, 1944 in Oklahoma City to Claude and Addie (Holmes) Baker. He passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the age of 73 years. Sonny was born the fifth of eight children. In his early years he spent a lot of time playing and tormenting his younger siblings, Janette, Joe, and Carolyn, but always looked up to his older brothers, Kenneth, Bobby, Carl, and Ronald for advice. He was the “cool uncle” to his nieces and nephews, always sporting the dark sunglasses, longer hair, and pretty women. He always cut up with us, plus had a fast car or motorcycle to drive. Sonny married Barbara Wolfe and they brought four sons into the world, Terry, Kenneth “Bubba”, Sonny, and Ronny. His sons were very special to him. He loved spending time with his family, enjoyed leatherwork and carpentry. He was an active member of the prison ministry and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his sons: Terry Baker and wife Lori of Prague; Kenneth “Bubba” Baker and wife Jeannie of Tulsa; Sonny Baker and significant other Tracy Edge of Sparks; and Ronny Baker of Shawnee. Grandchildren: Eric Baker, Sonny Baker, Jr., Alissa Baker, Isabella and husband Noah Krebs, Kimberly Browser, Kayla Nowlin, Kyle Baker, and Payton Bell. . Great grandsons: Dalton Gramner, Zayden Fala, and Levi Browser. Great granddaughters, Audrey Baker, Autumn Browser, Aries Walker, Kayla Goodson, Kyra Goodson, and one on the way, Amaya Krebs. Brother, Joe Baker of Oklahoma City. Sister, Janette Green and husband Larry of Dibble. Sister-in-law, Sharyn Baker of Paoli. And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Addie Baker; brothers and their wives, Kenneth Baker and wife Vivian, Bobby Baker and wife Shirley; Carl Baker and Ronald Baker; and his sister and her husband, Carolyn Herman and George; a granddaughter, Mandi Baker; nieces and nephews, Debbie and Craig Towler, Kyle, Carl Ray, Lisa, Betsy, Steve, Scotty Baker, and Dustin Brown. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay with Beverly Barker officiating under the direction of John W.
