Ruby Lila Herriage

Ruby L. Herriage of Purcell was born on January 31, 1931 in Phoenix, Arizona to Leroy Stits and Minnie Florence (Watkins-Stits) Bradshaw. She passed from this life on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in her home at the age of 86 years. Ruby grew up in Arizona where she met and married the love of her life, George Washington Herriage, Jr., on May 24th, 1947 in Phoenix, AZ. Ruby and George moved to Oklahoma in 1981 and lived in Paoli until moving to Purcell in 2008. She was a very nurturing mother who loved her family very much. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and sewing blankets, quilts, and making things for her grandchildren. Ruby loved watching sunsets, being outdoors, and truly loved the Lord. She was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. Ruby will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Ruby leaves behind one son, Randall Allen Herriage (wife-Susan Musil) of Minden, NV, daughters, Cynthia Ann (husband-Kenneth Vanvekoven) of Kiowa, OK and Janice Elaine Vanvekoven of Purcell, OK. A sister, Irene Blanche Spurlock of Scottsdale, Arizona. 12 grandchildren, Andrea Kaye, Brian Lee, Jeremy Scott, John Charles, Jason Lee, Robert Joseph, Kristina Marie, Timothy Ryan, Katelynn Elizabeth, Aaron James, Alaina Rene, Bethany Hope and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Herriage, Jr.; 2 of her 5 children. Thomas Edward Herriage and Constance Rebecca Autry, and 1 grandchild, Jacob Allen Vanvekoven; sister, Jeannie Brooks; and brothers, William, Raymond. Johnny, and Guy Stits. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, Purcell with Elder Mike Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Elmore City Cemetery, Elmore City, OK under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
