Barbara Jean Walck of Payne was born on February 12, 1933 in Enid, Oklahoma to Abe Mulkey Cariker and Margarite (Milner) Cariker. She passed from this life on Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years. Barbara grew up in Oklahoma City and Lindsay. She married Max Melvin Walck, Sr. on November 22, 1948 in Gainesville, Texas and they lived in the Payne community since 1948. She was a homemaker and sewed for the public also making clothes for her children and pillow cases out of seed sacks to use or sell. Barbara was an excellent cook who loved cooking for her family and spending time with her them, especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed her cats, canning vegetables, doing word find puzzles, watching her hummingbirds, and her Friday town days until it moved to everyday. She volunteered many years at the Sunset Nursing Home in Purcell until it turned into a job, then she worked as an activity coordinator at the Lexington Nursing Home, and also worked for Byrdell’s Flowers in Lindsay. Barbara was member of the Payne Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sons: Max Melvin Walck, Jr. of Beeville, Texas; James Walck and wife Ida of Payne; and Larry Walck and wife Rita of Oklahoma City. Daughters: Diana Blankenship and husband Thomas of Payne; Linda Dorman and husband Allen of Purcell; and Sheila Little and husband Marc of El Reno. 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Margarite Cariker; husband Max Melvin Walck, Sr.; great granddaughter Jezreel Herr; and a sister, JoAnn Cariker. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Erin Springs Baptist Church with Ron Jarman and Earl Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
