Velta Mae Wester of Maysville was born on August 22, 1934 in Branch, Arkansas to Robert Asa Boydston and Jewel Bernice (Dixon) Boydston. She passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her home in Maysville at the age of 83 years. Velta grew up in Branch, Arkansas, then moved to Dexter, New Mexico. She married L. C. “Clay” Wester on August 16, 1958 in Dewar, Oklahoma, and they ran a mobile home park in Jenks, Oklahoma for 10 years before moving to Maysville in 1964. Velta was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her daughters, gardening, canning vegetables, and growing flowers. She loved camping, spending time at the lake, traveling with her family, and spending time in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She was a Sunday School Secretary for 15-20 years and a Sunday School Teacher at the First Assembly of God Church in Maysville and affiliated with Mt. View Full Gospel Church. Velta will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her husband, L. C. “Clay” Wester of the home. Daughters, Judy Reed of Glenpool and Rhonda Blish of Maysville. Grandchildren: Lauren Pettit and husband Devery of Alex; Clayton Blish and wife Molly of Moore; Steve Carter of Tulsa; and Cheryl Harvey of Glenpool. Great Grandchildren: Ray and Owen Pettit of Alex; Milena and Hudson Blish of Moore; Joshua Harvey of Glenpool; and Zackary Carter of Sapulpa. A sister-in-law, Pearl Boydston of Clovis, New Mexico. Brother-in-law, Melvin Tyler of Amarillo, Texas. A lifetime friend, Bobbie Norton of Maysville and caregiver and longtime friend, Wanda Crosslin of Maysville. Velta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jewel Boydston; a daughter, Cathy Wester; sister, Wanda Tyler and brother, Haskell Boydston. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street, Maysville, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville with Bro. Ron Martin officiating.
