Verna Ladell Colter

Verna Ladell Colter of Maysville, formerly of Bakersfield, California was born on February 23, 1937 to Robert Ellison and Letha (Williams) Ellison. She passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years. Verna had lived in Bakersfield since 1966 until she moved to Maysville on May 27, 2017 to be closer to her daughter and family. She enjoyed woodworking, sewing, watching shows on the TV Land channel, and sitting outside watching the bunny rabbits in her yard. She was a Christian by faith and she will be dearly missed by her family. Her survivors include her daughters: Sharon Petty of Maysville and Brenda Aycox of Bakersfield, California. A special friend, Becky Peebles of Lindsay. Brother, Danny Ellison of Bakersfield, California. And 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Colter; and a brother, Jerry Ellison. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 31. 2017 at the Maysville Cemetery with John W. Williams officiating with burial under the direction of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
