Bertha Vernon Neal of Maysville was born on October 4, 1920 in Apache, Oklahoma to Dan and Linnie (Bennett) Baily. She passed from this life on July 10, 2017 at the Noble Health Care Center in Noble, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years. Bertha grew up in Apache where she graduated from Apache High School. She married William Henry “Bill” Neal in February 1940. They moved to Maysville in 1950, where she enjoyed raising her children. Bertha later became the City Clerk for the Town of Maysville, a position she held for 25 years until she retired in 1986. She was very well known for her piano playing talent, playing for the Kiwanis Club for over 40 years and sharing her talent with the nursing home residents. Bertha was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville where she taught the Fidelis Sunday School class for years. She will be dearly missed by her family. Her survivors include her daughter, Carolynn Neal of Norman. A grandson, Todd Carr and his wife Terra of Maysville. Great grandchildren, Toby Carr and Taryn Carr, both of Maysville. And several nieces and nephews. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Linnie Baily; husband, Bill Neal; daughter, Sherri Lynne Carr; brothers, Herbert, Pete, and Raleigh; and a sister, Dessie Lenor Bowen. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with Bro. Tim Carr and John R. Williams officiating.
