Betty Ruth Harris

Betty Ruth Harris of Lindsay was born on July 26, 1938 in Purdy, Oklahoma to Chester Allen Miles and Vidia (Adkins) Miles. She passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 in Norman at the age of 78 years. Betty grew up in the Lindsay area. She married Donald Edwin Harris on February 4, 1966 in Durant, Oklahoma. They later moved to Dallas, Texas and in 1968 they returned to Lindsay. Betty worked for the Pauls Valley State School in Pauls Valley as a nursing assistant until she was 48 at which time she had to retire due to her health. She loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed crocheting, growing strawberries, watching westerns, and being out in her yard. Betty was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed working at Vacation Bible School, cooking at Falls Creek Camp, and making her “Mrs. Betty’s Tea” for Wednesday night meals. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her son, Michael Harris and wife Sue Ann of Madera, California. A daughter, Tena Tucker and husband Greg of Lindsay. Sisters: Wanda Louise Hackney of Lindsay. Brother-in-law, Bobby Gray of Lindsay. Grandchildren: Jerry Don Tucker and Valerie, Kerry Lynn Dorman and Chris, Brandon Ray Harris, Wren Alister Harris and Searra, Lisa Marie Howery and Jeff. Great Grandchildren: Seth Lane Tucker, Gage Rex Tucker, Reid Kipton Dorman, Clay Tucker Dorman, Emma Ann-Marie Howery, Madison Grace Howery, Jacoby Miles Harris, Avery Grace Harris, Sawyer Liam Harris, and Alister (A.J.) Wren Harris II. And a host of nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Vida Miles; husband, Donald E. Harris; a son, Brandon Ray Harris; and sisters, Brooksie Pauline Dexter and Sharon Kay Gray. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Lindsay, Oklahoma with Rev. Brandon Cottrell and Mike Somers officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, OK under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
