Phyllis "Sue" Downey

August 12, 1943 — March 22, 2017

Phyllis Sue Downey was born on August 12, 1943 in Cunningham, Kansas to Robert Selby Robinson and Iva Pauline (Streetman) Robinson. She passed from this life on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in her home at the age of 73 years. Sue attended school in Hominy, Buffalo, and then obtained a GED. She married Francis Leroy “F.L.” Downey on April 4, 1959 in Shattuck, Oklahoma and together they worked as horse trainers traveling to different race tracks across the United States. She had a true passion for training horses. They moved from Midwest City to Maysville in 2016 to be near their daughter. Sue loved spending time with her family and raising her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a great momma and always involved in any sports her children participated in and was a big OKC Thunder fan. She was a member of the Cowboy Church in Claremore and Remington Park. Sue will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her husband of 58 years, F. L. of the home, north of Maysville. Son, Mark Downey and wife Cathy of Mustang. A daughter, Jandra Brooksher and husband Wesley of Maysville. Brother, Tommy Robinson and wife Cheryl of Newcastle, Pennsylvania. Grandchildren: Brianne and Kyle Evans, Baylea Brooksher, Melina and Matt Howard, Ty Keenan, and Shane Downey. And 5 great grandchildren: Shalyn Mutzig, Kinly Howard, Raylee Tautrest, Jarrett Tautrest, Taylor Kennan, and expecting Ryder Evans. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Iva Robinson; brother, Jack Robinson and sister, Patsy Owens; and a great grandchild, Koda Evans. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 27, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, OK with Bro. Tommy Griffith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John W.
