Edward J. Bowlin, 83 of Purcell, peacefully passed into the arms of his Lord, Wednesday, January 25, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born June 17, 1933 in Atoka, Oklahoma, the fifth of ten, to Jess and Mary (Austin) Bowlin. On March 15, 1953 he married his sweetheart of 63 years, Thelma Little. Together they made their home in Phoenix, Arizona where they raised two children, Charles and Pamela. In 1953 he was drafted into the U. S. Army where he proudly served his country for 2 years. Ed enjoyed camping and fishing. He could fix anything and was the happiest working with his hands. He was a hard worker, retiring from Noble School district in 1993. He also worked hard in the church where he held many positions including Deacon. He helped build the Pentecostal Church of God in Lexington, OK. He was most recently a member of the Memorial Assembly of God in Purcell, OK for 18 years. He put his all into everything he did including his job of husband, father, and Papa and he will be dearly missed by all he touched. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Jess and Mary Bowlin, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, son Charles Bowlin, and a great granddaughter Gracie Haught. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Bowlin, daughter Pamela Bowlin, 3 sisters, daughter-in-law Suzie Bowlin, grandchildren Bobbie Jo Haught and husband Hooter, Jason Bowlin and wife Jaime, April McAlister and husband Corey, great-grandchildren Dazie and Brix Haught, Rae Lynn, Kayden and Brice Bowlin, Bailey and Allie McAlister and a host of many other family and friends. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street, Maysville, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Memorial Assembly of God in Purcell, OK with Rev. Duane Elmore officiating.
